VOID RIFT
Privacy Policy — Last updated: July 27, 2026
This Privacy Policy describes how Austin Stickley / Void Rift (“we,” “us,” or “our”)
handles information when you use the Void Rift application on iOS and related web experiences
(collectively, “the App”). We design the App to collect as little data as possible.
1. Information We Collect
Depending on how you play, the App may process the following categories of information:
-
Local game progress & settings:
Ship loadouts, hangar upgrades, high scores, achievements, missions progress, and preferences
stored on your device (for example via iOS
UserDefaults / local storage).
This data stays on your device unless you use a feature that shares it as described below.
-
Apple Game Center (iOS):
If you sign in with Game Center, Apple processes your Game Center player identifier, display name
(alias), leaderboard scores, and achievement progress. That processing is controlled by Apple
under Apple’s Privacy Policy. We do not receive your Apple ID password.
-
Optional web leaderboard / social features (web only):
On the web version of the game, if you choose to create an optional username for global
leaderboards or social features, we may store a username and associated scores or profile
stats. No real name or email is required for basic username-based play.
-
Technical / operational data:
When the App calls our backend APIs (for example leaderboard health checks), standard
server logs may include IP address, timestamps, and request metadata as part of hosting
infrastructure. We do not use this to build advertising profiles.
2. Information We Do Not Collect
- We do not sell your personal information.
- We do not collect precise location data.
- We do not use third-party advertising SDKs for interest-based ads in the current iOS App Store build.
- We do not track you across other companies’ apps or websites for advertising.
- We do not require an email address to play the core game on iOS.
3. How We Use Information
- To save and restore your game progress on your device.
- To enable leaderboards and achievements via Apple Game Center when you opt in.
- To operate optional web leaderboards / social features if you use them.
- To maintain security, reliability, and abuse prevention on our APIs.
- To respond to support requests you send us.
4. Legal Bases (where applicable)
Where required by law (for example GDPR), we process data based on performance of the
service you request, legitimate interests in running and securing the App, and/or your consent
(such as signing into Game Center or creating an optional web account).
5. Data Storage & Security
Local game data is stored on your device using platform storage mechanisms.
Optional web leaderboard data is stored on hosted infrastructure (currently Vercel and related
storage services) with standard industry security practices. No method of transmission or
storage is 100% secure; we take reasonable steps to protect information under our control.
6. Sharing of Information
We do not sell personal information. We may share limited information with:
-
Apple — Game Center, App Store, and related platform services
(Apple Privacy Policy).
-
Hosting providers — for example Vercel, which hosts the web App and API
(Vercel Privacy Policy).
-
Legal requirements — if required by law, regulation, or valid legal process.
7. Data Retention
- Local device data: retained until you clear app data or uninstall the App.
- Game Center data: retained by Apple under Apple’s policies; you manage Game Center via iOS Settings / your Apple ID.
- Optional web account / leaderboard data: retained while your account is active, or until you request deletion.
- Server logs: retained only as long as reasonably needed for operations and security, then deleted or aggregated.
8. Your Rights & Choices
- Uninstall: delete the App to remove local game data from the device.
- Game Center: sign out of Game Center or manage privacy settings in iOS Settings; Apple also provides data tools for your Apple ID.
- Optional web account deletion: email us at the address below with your username and we will delete server-side account/leaderboard data associated with that username within 30 days (often sooner).
- Access / correction: contact us to request access to or correction of account data we hold, where applicable.
Depending on your location, you may have additional rights under privacy laws (for example access,
deletion, portability, or objection). To exercise those rights, contact us.
9. Children’s Privacy
The App is a general-audience game and is not directed to children under 13.
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal information to us, contact us and we will
take steps to delete it.
10. International Users
The App may be accessed from outside the United States. If you use the App from another country,
information may be processed in the United States or other countries where our service providers operate.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will change
when we do. Continued use of the App after changes means you acknowledge the updated policy.
